Spinal traction is a method of treating such diseases of the ridge as: acute radicular syndrome, disc deformities, intervertebral hernia, pain having a neurological origin and other pathologies of the spine. Doctors have different attitudes to this procedure, it equally has supporters and opponents. Performing stretching the spine without errors, will quickly lead to a positive result.
What is a spinal traction? When is it worth or not worth resorting to this method? Is it possible to carry out traction at home? And to other questions that concern you, we will answer in this article.
Spinal traction is a very effective method of reducing pressure on the structures of the spinal column to restore its functionality. When the vertebral discs are deformed, the depreciation pads become thinner, the vertebrae begin to subside, and the bone structures begin to rub against each other. Over time, cartilage tissue is erased, unable to fully function, compression causes damage to the discs, which contributes to the occurrence of intervertebral hernia and pain.
With increasing compression of the vertebrae, the likelihood of the development of neurological disorders and damage to the components of the spinal column increases. Traction of the spine reduces compression, increases the distance between the bone structures, stretches the bone tube, which contributes to the reduction of pain, removes muscle spasm, does not allow the development of destruction of cartilage and bone structures.
Stretching the spine is a procedure that carries certain difficulties. It is carried out by qualified medical personnel in conditions of physical cabinets and sanatorium-resort institutions using advanced equipment for underwater and dry stretching of the spine. Doing stretching the ridge at home is a very risky exercise, so at home they resort to simplified stretching options with minimal burdens. It is important to understand that self-treatment and the use of untested methods of stretching the spine can have disastrous consequences in the form of disability, spinal cord rupture, and spinal fracture.
Experts in the treatment of pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, have different opinions about the feasibility of the extension of the support column. Some doctors argue that traction improves the condition of patients in almost all spinal pathologies, others argue that dystrophic-degenerative processes are a direct contraindication for skeletal traction.
Hood without restrictions apply in the following cases:
- During the rehabilitation period after the fracture,
- The displacement of the vertebrae
- Vertebral instability (in the early stages of the disease, with mandatory fixation after completion of the procedure),
- Scoliosis (underwater spinal traction).
Diseases in which can be sent to traction:
- Fibrous ring cracks,
- Changes in the spinal compression,
- Pinching of the intervertebral disc capsule,
- Protrusions, hernia,
- Acute forms of radicular syndrome,
- Pain of neurogenic origin
- Ankylosing spondylitis,
- Deforming arthrosis,
It is strictly forbidden to engage in self-treatment and to undergo the procedure in a private clinic without proper diagnosis. As there are conditions and diseases that will be a contraindication for traction.
Some doctors recommend exercises from therapeutic gymnastics, the execution of which stretches the spine at the expense of the patient's own weight, without the use of additional burdens. These exercises are considered to be not as effective as stretching, but they do not have any negative effects in degenerative diseases like osteochondrosis.
In order to understand how the spinal traction acts on the locomotor system affected by the disease, it is necessary to consider how the traction procedure works, what it is and what processes occur during its execution. This will allow you to understand the benefits of traction.
In most cases, pain in the back, in the spine, as well as in remote places, for example, in the arm, is provoked by osteochondrosis. This disease has almost every elderly person, since destructive changes occur in the cartilage tissue with age, its volume decreases, and the quality of cartilage between the vertebrae does not allow it to perform its functions, as before.
The consequence of osteochondrosis are such agonizing diseases as a herniated disc and protrusion. At first, patients feel muscular tension in the back, the cervical region suffers, the loin, the feeling of stiffness in the back appears during movement and in statics. Then spastic contractions of the blood vessels appear, resulting in metabolic disturbances in the surrounding tissues and cartilage itself.
When metabolic processes are disturbed, the fibrous ring, soft in nature, loses fluid and dries out, decreasing in height. The first signs of muscle pain in the back, unfortunately, do not force patients to go to the clinic immediately, and already at the stage of treatment with severe symptoms, it is not possible to help with preventive measures.
In the absence of qualified help, the pathological process includes longitudinal ligaments that hold the vertebrae in the anatomically correct position. Anterior and posterior ligaments with muscular pain are stretched, resulting in a number of pathological processes:
- the discs between the vertebrae will change their size as long as they are under the action of capillary spasm and cannot replenish fluid reserves, as a result of muscular pain aseptic inflammation develops, swelling increases,
- the longitudinal ligaments are tightened so as to fix the new location of the vertebrae,
- the pain in this case disappears, and even the muscular blood flow is restored, as the body adapts to new conditions. The main feature of this process is the inability of the fibrous ring to replenish its water reserves, with the result that the process does not have the opposite effect and the ring remains in a compressed position.
The leading role of spinal traction is that the procedure allows you to resist the development of osteochondrosis and preserve the quality of intervertebral discs. Patients are not at risk of protrusion and herniated discs, since the necessary distance between the vertebrae is maintained.
Traction therapy is carried out in a medical institution. Experienced specialists work with patients who monitor the position of the patient during traction, set and regulate the load on the vertebrae so as not to provoke a deterioration in the patient's health.
How is the procedure of spinal stretching?
To begin, consider how the procedure of stretching the spine is carried out with the help of various types of exposure. More information about them can be found later in the article, but for now - general principles and security.
The general principle of stretching the spine is to ensure maximum relaxation of the muscular frame of the back. Then it is necessary to improve the elasticity of the longitudinal long ligaments. To do this, it is most effective to use the techniques of osteopathy and reflexology. With the help of massage, it is only possible to achieve partial relaxation of the back muscles. Proper preparation for the procedure is the key to success. If the muscular frame of the spine will maintain its tone, no extension will not work. Moreover, in this condition, you can only aggravate the patient's condition. The pain increases, the load on the muscle fibers increases, the process of swelling accelerates as a result of the inflammatory reaction.
After the preparatory stage, which includes an examination by a doctor, relaxation and massage, the patient is placed on a special table or apparatus. The upper body and head are securely fixed. The position changes from horizontal to vertical with a slope. Different types of load can be suspended to the legs or can be influenced by hardware.
The duration of one procedure can last from 30 to 40 minutes. With proper preparation, no pain should be experienced by the patient. After the procedure requires a complete rest for 1.5 - 2 hours. No physical activity with lifting during the entire period of treatment should not be provided.
In the course of treatment can be assigned 10 - 15 procedures. Between them there should be intervals of 24 - 72 hours. More precisely, the regularity of the traction extension of the vertebral column is determined by the attending physician, depending on the patient's condition and the severity of the damage to the cartilage tissue of the intervertebral discs.
Types of spinal traction: horizontal, vertical, or hardware
Begin to consider the types of spinal column traction should be with the division of the water and dry. Aqueous are held in the bulk of the liquid and it is not necessarily water. Depending on the type of the disease, radon and turpentine, phosphate and mud baths can be carried out simultaneously. Most often, such a procedure is provided to the services of patients at sanatoriums with specialization in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. For a water extension, a large bath or pool is needed, in which the patient is placed on a special support.
After fixing the head and upper torso, the supporting structure rotates to a vertical position with a slope angle and there is pressure on the lower part of the body. In the thickness of the fluid is complete relaxation of the ligaments and muscles of the spinal column. The procedure has a very high degree of efficiency.
Not less useful dry stretching. It is divided into the following types:
- horizontal stretching of the spine - the patient is lying on his stomach or back, stretching is carried out using special mechanisms,
- vertical stretching of the spine - fixing the trunk and head, turning the structure so that the patient is suspended and stretching is performed under the weight of his own body,
- hardware spinal traction is strictly dosed loads, which are controlled by sensors, it is the most safe and effective way to treat osteochondrosis, scoliosis, instability of the vertebral bodies, etc.
The choice of the type and method of traction extension of the spine always depends on the patient's condition, the degree of neglect of the disease and the individual course of therapy developed. You can enroll in our clinic of manual therapy for the initial free consultation. An experienced doctor will conduct an examination and prescribe the most effective form of traction extension of the spine. With the right course of these procedures, the pain is completely eliminated even in the most advanced cases of osteochondrosis in 2-3 sessions.
Indications for the treatment of spinal traction (osteochondrosis, protrusion and hernia)
Spinal traction treatment is currently widespread both in ordinary clinics and in specialized sanatoriums. but the safest procedure is to perform these procedures in manual therapy clinics. It is in them that the patient has the opportunity to completely eliminate pain and discomfort during the procedure and get the maximum positive effect. The fact is that for a successful traction extension of the spine, special preliminary preparation is necessary. Only an experienced manual therapist can make so that the longitudinal ligaments of the spine, which can withstand physical load up to 500 kg, allow to increase the intervals between the vertebral bodies.
Indications for spinal stretching may be as follows:
- osteochondrosis at any stage of degenerative changes in the cartilage tissue of intervertebral discs,
- fibrous ring protrusion with concomitant pathological changes in the form of salt deposits,
- herniated intervertebral disk with different localization and size,
- scoliosis and other types of spinal curvature,
- violations of posture (including in children),
- spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, uncovertebral arthrosis, etc.
In osteochondrosis, spinal traction helps to arrest the static tension of the muscular framework of the back, accelerates the process of filling the lost fluid with a fibrous ring. Proper stretching of the spine during protrusion allows you to return the original form of the disc and completely relieve the patient from radicular pain and neurological symptoms associated with the process of pinching the nerve fiber. It is necessary to use spinal traction with hernia with caution, especially if the patient has severe pain syndrome. requires constant monitoring of the patient.
Contraindications for spinal stretching
In addition to the evidence, there are contraindications for stretching the spine in any way. And these factors should be considered before the start of therapy. A complete list of contraindications can not be published, because there are a combination of risk factors, individual cases, etc. Only the attending physician should decide on the safety and expediency of the appointment of spinal traction, taking into account all the existing circumstances and aggravating history of diseases.
Common contraindications for traction extension of the spine are as follows:
- elevated blood pressure (until the state normalizes),
- inflammatory and infectious diseases accompanied by hyperthermia,
- tumor processes and tuberculosis foci in the bone and cartilage tissue of the spine,
- decompensated diabetes,
- sequestered spinal hernia,
- vascular pathologies,
- mental illness accompanied by hallucinations and psychosis.
Treatment of traction hernia of the cervical and vertebral spine
Effective and safe treatment of spinal hernia with traction is possible only in a specialized clinic. We have all the necessary equipment that allows us not only to have a therapeutic effect, but also to successfully monitor the patient’s condition during the procedure. This is a guarantee of safety and a high degree of efficiency.
The traction of the cervical spine with hernial defects of intervertebral discs is carried out using additional equipment. Before the procedure, the patient must be examined. This impact allows literally during the first two sessions completely stop all discomfort. Pain and dizziness, a state of drowsiness and depression. The innervation of the upper limbs is restored.
To carry out traction of the lumbar spine is possible only after serious preparation. A relaxing massage is done. With the help of osteopathy, excess stress is removed from the ligamentous apparatus of the spine. If the spinal traction with hernia of the lumbar spine is carried out in compliance with all the recommendations of the doctor, the effect is felt after the second procedure. patients note a complete absence of pain, the restoration of normal muscle strength in the lower limbs, the elimination of numbness, etc.
If you are worried about pain in the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine, and you want to get rid of them quickly, effectively and completely safely, sign up for a free initial consultation with our manual therapy clinic. After examination, the doctor will diagnose and recommend the best treatment option.
What it is, harm and benefit
In the absence of pathologies, the distance between the vertebrae ensures their mobility and flexibility of the spinal column. Over time, the human body wears out, and the space between them becomes less. This is bad for joints, ligaments and intervertebral discs, impairs their nutrition and blood circulation.
The closer the vertebrae are to each other, the higher the risk of various diseases of the spine.
Traction is one of the alternative treatment methods that experts use along with prescribing medications.
It increases the anatomical distance between the vertebrae, restoring the blood supply to the disks. The pressure on the fibrous rings and roots decreases, and the pain syndrome gradually disappears.
Traction is prescribed as an adjunct to drug treatment.
Regardless of the types of traction, the essence of their impact is the same: the procedure relieves muscle spasm, eliminates the displacement of the vertebrae and the deformation of their ligaments. Stretching, or traction, can be both under load and without it:
- with additional weights
- under the patient’s own weight
- with the use of manual therapy.
The procedure time is different: from several minutes to one or two hours. It depends on the disease and the individual reaction of the person.
Throughout the entire stretch, the patient wears a corset that supports the back.
What gives traction:
- it normalizes blood circulation, restoring osmotic pressure in the ligaments and the spinal cord,
- relieves nerve roots from squeezing by overgrown osteophytes (growths on vertebrae),
- eliminates disc offset
- increases the diameter of the holes between the vertebrae by 1-3 mm.
Increasing the distance between the vertebrae releases a pinched nerve root.
Despite the advantages of the procedure, in medicine there is no unequivocal opinion about its implementation. It is believed that in some cases traction can harm the patient. For example, a dry way of stretching is fraught with micro-tears of muscles and soft tissues, but with its careful use it can be effective and safe.
Much depends on the individual response of the patient to this therapy. As a rule, after one or two sessions, it becomes clear whether the person is well tolerated by the “hood” or not.
Since now there are many different ways, including benign ones, the doctor can always choose the one that is best suited for treatment.
Complications and consequences
What is dangerous spinal traction? If the procedure is performed by an unqualified "master", it can be detrimental to health. If the load is too heavy, cartilage may be injured.
Sometimes a complication occurs in the form of muscle spasm and sharp discomfort. If they do not stop, the session should be terminated on time.
If the doctor conducts the procedure incorrectly, it can cause serious harm to the patient.
After the first manipulation, patients often complain that a backache hurts after a spinal traction.
Until a certain point, this is normal - because of the stretching of the ligaments and muscles. Wearing a corset helps minimize pain.
After stretching the spine you need to lie for some time (1-2 hours) in order not to provoke pain syndrome with sharp movements. Moderate physical activity and physical therapy will help to avoid complications, keep muscles in shape and increase the effectiveness of the rehabilitation period.
The choice of the type of traction depends on how “started” the disease is, on the age and general condition of the patient. The doctor develops an individual therapeutic course of different durations and during the treatment monitors the person's reaction to the procedure. There are cases when with osteochondrosis of the cervical spine pain, dizziness and tinnitus could be completely eliminated in two or three sessions of dry stretching.
There are many ways to traction
Patients interested in the types of hood, want to know about them as much as possible. We have collected all possible terms and concepts, many of which are closely related. In general, the varieties of traction depend on the following factors:
- body position of the patient,
- the presence or absence of water procedures
- application of hardware techniques, digital control,
- use load.
Dry stretching means any procedure that is not carried out under water conditions. The simplest example is a person hanging on a bar, pulling the spinal column. A more sophisticated dry stretch option is the use of a traction table or a simulator with an inclined surface. The patient is fixed with the help of special devices and equip for him additional traction.
Dry spine traction
Be sure to read a good article:
It is used in severe cases, after serious injuries, when the patient is hospitalized in the Department of Traumatology. The metal spokes of the Kirschner are inserted into the bones of the injured extremities, after which the leg or arm is fixed with weighting.
Skeletal spinal traction
The classic gentle way of drawing, when compared with dry traction. It is used most often. The water used for the procedures can be plain or mineralized. How is the session? The patient is placed in a specially equipped pool in which there are rubber circles, several handrails or more complex devices.
How is underwater spine traction performed
Most often, the person is under water in an upright position. Water should be moderately warm (36-37C). It provides muscle relaxation and facilitates the process of stretching. The patient's body can be positioned horizontally. In this case, the body longitudinally sags on the shield in a container filled with water.
Underwater procedures have a good effect on scoliosis and osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine.
The humane method that has appeared recently. It is considered a breakthrough in the treatment of degenerative pathologies (hernias, protrusions of the lumbar spine). This device effectively relaxes the muscles, evenly pulling back. The device is equipped with a microvibration system and acts on the muscles with thermal waves.
How is spinal strain-free traction performed?
The patient receives and massage, and the hood at the same time. Despite the fact that we are talking about the passive way, in some cases it provides real assistance not worse than traditional tractions. Muscles and ligaments are not overstrained, and the likelihood of injuries is actually reduced to zero. One example of such installations is the Swing Machine. Its analogues can be found in any private clinic that treats diseases of the back.
Horizontal and vertical
Under the horizontal traction understand any procedure in which the patient is in a horizontal position (on the back or abdomen). In the same sense, use the concept of "vertical hood."
What is a vertical spinal hood
A variety of hardware method. This is a new kind of traction table. It is equipped with a system that the patient can manage independently, under the supervision of the attending physician. The procedure is performed in a horizontal position of the body, and the person himself feels the moment when stretching reaches its maximum. An example of such a computer system is the Triton apparatus.
What Triton looks like
How to make a gravity hood? With this technique, simulators are used with support on the back. The support is “adjusted” to the anatomical curves of the spinal column, and the patient feels light and comfortable. The weight of the patient evenly acts on all the elements of the simulator, which provides traction in the longitudinal direction.
How is the gravitational stretching of the spine
The concept is applied to any simple technique, including conventional traction tables without computer control. Water extract also applies to mechanical methods of exposure.
One of the varieties of Pilates. During training, the body gradually takes the desired position relative to the conventional vertical axis. Patients learn to control the center of gravity, leveling their posture in the process of training.
It is carried out with the help of high-tech equipment. This is a robot simulator that returns displaced vertebrae, muscles and ligaments to the physiological position. The machine is tuned to the conventional axis of the three-dimensional space, it works carefully and accurately.
3D spinal traction with a robot
Variety of dry extension. The process takes an active part in the weight of the patient. A person is placed on an inclined surface and stretches his back with the help of weights or manual therapy techniques. During treatment, the entire back is stretched evenly, and the couch repeats all the anatomical curves of the spine.
This is a manual therapy, during which the specialist systematically acts on the muscles, ligaments and joints of the vertebrae of each department. Unlike massage, it is more capacious and deep procedure. Compared to other, dry, non-apparatus extraction methods, it is rarely accompanied by unpleasant sensations. An experienced therapist gently and consistently acts on the body, stretching the back in the right places.
Manual spinal traction
Be sure to read a good article:
The cost of spinal traction varies from 500 to 1,800 rubles per visit and higher, depending on the methods used. Automatic stretching costs from 800 to 3000 rubles per session. The price is directly related to the level of the clinic, the category of doctor and whether the latest high-tech devices are used in the medical institution.
The weight of the load can be from 2 to 100 kg with a gradual increase if the patient tolerates the procedure well. Toward the end of the course of treatment (in the last two or three visits), the load is gently reduced to a minimum. After each session, you need to rest for two hours. At the end of each manipulation, the patient is transported on a gurney..
When severe pain appears, the doctor's task is to destroy the trigger points with a massage or change the position of the patient's body. Thus, it is possible to minimize discomfort and continue therapy.
As a rule, the “hood” is prescribed in conjunction with other therapeutic measures, primarily physiotherapy:
- ultrasound exposure
- warming up.
What is complex treatment for? It strengthens the body, has anti-inflammatory and relaxing effect. Also, the doctor prescribes a complex of exercise therapy, which the patient performs at home. There are patients who are well helped by hirudotherapy (treatment with leeches).
Exercises for spinal traction
There are some simple exercises that you can do yourself:
- When you wake up, roll over on your stomach and lower your arms. Stretch back leaning on your elbows. Repeat the movement 10-12 times. Exercise stretches well back,
- Sitting on the floor, bend your legs at the knee joints and try to reach them with your head. Repeat the movement 5-10 times
- Turn to the wall. The distance between you and the wall should be about 25 cm. Pull your hands up, tilt your head back and look at your fingertips. Stretch your hands on the wall, keep your feet level and straight, touch the wall with your chest and chin. Hold this position for 10 seconds,
- Staying in the same position, try to touch the wall in turn with the right and left cheek. Repeat each movement 3-5 times
- Stand to the wall and lean on it sideways. Pull your right hand back. Gently turn the body towards the arm, stay in this position for 5-10 seconds. Do the same with your left hand,
- In a sitting position, lower your head, place your hands under your knees, round your back and stretch your shoulder blades up.
The correct reaction of the body to exercises to stretch the spine is a feeling of light tension in the muscles of the neck, arms and back.
Self-pulling at home
After consulting with your doctor, you can stretch your back at home. For this you need a solid couch or board. Before traction, relax your muscles with a massage or take a warm bath. Attach attachments to one side of the board to secure your wrists.
If possible, change the angle of the board. The duration of the home session is from 2 to 3 hours.

Doctors reviews: pros and cons
Previously, there was no unequivocal opinion among doctors about spinal stretching. Old mechanical methods are far from always humane and painless, although in many cases they are useful and effective. With the advent of modern hardware methods, physicians have no doubt about the safety and benefits of the procedure for the majority of patients suffering from systemic pathologies.
There is a belief that passive methods do not bring tangible effect, especially in the treatment of serious diseases. In any case, much depends on the qualifications of the doctor, the “neglect” of the pathology and the general condition of the patient. The decision on the use of traction methods is always made individually for each patient.
Video: what is the danger of stretching the spine?
Spinal traction is a procedure that is not always pleasant. With the advent of modern medical equipment, dry horizontal traction became a humane method, but the price for such services is very high. Most often, doctors recommend patients an underwater drawing method, effective in treating hernias and other diseases of the spinal column.
In the absence of pain and contraindications simple traction methods can be used at home. Regular physical therapy exercises strengthen the muscles and ligaments of the spine, stretch it naturally and enhance the effect of any therapeutic effect.
In the process of traction occurs:
- spasmodic muscle relaxation
- stretching of the paravertebral muscles and ligaments,
- increase in intervertebral distance, which leads to a decrease in compression of the intervertebral discs (sucker effect),
- reduction of compression of nerve and vascular roots with osteophytes, intervertebral discs or spastic muscles, due to which the patient is relieved of pain,
- improvement of local blood circulation, which prevents stagnation of blood and fluids,
- tensioning the posterior longitudinal ligament of the spine and pushing forward the displaced vertebral bodies and intervertebral disks, as well as the normalization of osmotic pressure inside the gelatinous nucleus of intervertebral disks.
Studies have shown that at the time of the procedure, the distance between the vertebrae increases by 1-3 mm, and the size of the intervertebral holes - up to 0.5 mm.
Indications for traction spinal traction are:
- spinal compression changes,
- fibrous ring crack,
- pinching the intervertebral disc capsule,
- osteocondritis of the spine,
- disc protrusion,
- spinal disc herniation,
- spinal deformity
- acute radicular syndrome
- arthrosis deformans,
- subacute radiculo-ischemic syndromes,
- degenerative-dystrophic changes of the discs,
- neurogenic pain
- secondary vertebral visceralgia,
- debut of ankylosing spondylitis.
Complications after the procedure
Sometimes after the procedure of traction stretching of the spine, the patient may develop the following complications:
- increased pain due to irritation of the spinal nerve,
- traumatizing the intervertebral disc in case of improperly selected burdening or non-observance of the safety rules during and after the procedure,
- development of muscle spasm due to the presence in the muscles of the zones of fibrosis and trigger (pain) points.
To solve the problem, the patient's position is changed during the procedure or anesthesia of the trigger zones. And it is also possible their destruction by a special manipulation of a specialist before the procedure.
- incorrect behavior of the procedure
- ignoring contraindications to treatment,
- lack of evidence for traction,
- non-observance by the patient of instructions of the doctor.
Choosing the type of traction
The choice of the type of traction extension depends on many factors: the severity of the pain syndrome, the stage and extent of the process, the general condition of the patient, the presence of associated diseases and their degree, etc.
- Horizontal extension is preferable in case of severe pain syndrome, and after the transition to the subacute stage, vertical and underwater traction is recommended,
- Dry stretching is shown in conditions associated with the involvement of the vertebral artery in the pathological process, with hypertension and autonomic disorders, muscle spasm and dislocation (associated with the difficulties of immersion and removal of the patient from the water).
Choice of burden
Variability of permissible loads varies from 2 to 100 kg depending on the location of the pathological focus, patient weight, sex, age, selected type of extension, position of the patient during the procedure, the presence of comorbidities and the extent of the main lesion.
The first 5 procedures gradually increase - from 2-4 kg - to the maximum (15-20% of the patient's body weight), the next sessions are carried out with the maximum weighting, and during the last 2-3 tractions there is a smooth reduction of the burden to the minimum.
Small weights (30% of the maximum) are used to act on muscles and ligaments, and large weights are used to act on hard tissue.
Features of the procedure
After any kind of stretching, 1-2 hours of rest is necessary, and then fixing the stretched spine with a special orthosis. In order not to destroy the useful effect of the procedure and not to provoke the appearance of complications, after performing the manipulations the patient must be transported on a gurney in a horizontal position.
The individual approach to each individual patient is important: the choice of the type of extension, the selection of burdens, the evaluation of contraindications and indications, the appointment of the required number of sessions for a course of treatment.
A trial procedure of traction treatment is prescribed for each new patient. At the first session, the appearance of complaints related to vascular disorders, as well as increased pain syndrome. In such cases, it is recommended that several more (up to 5) procedures be carried out to clarify the feasibility of further treatment: the perceived deterioration of health can be replaced by a noticeable positive therapeutic effect. But in some cases, this type of physiotherapy may not be suitable for a particular person. In such a situation, the method of influence must be changed. It should be noted that during trial traction, the burdening is gradually increased to the maximum allowable for the patient. In the absence of a positive trend, further procedures are considered inappropriate.
Traction traction is carried out by courses of 10-20 daily procedures.
A complex approach
Traction traction is an additional method of drug therapy, for better relaxation of muscle protection, reducing the risk of side effects and fixing the result, it is advisable to combine traction treatment with other types of physiotherapy:
- heating: electric blanket, mud treatment, paraffin therapy, ozocerite, etc.,
- using pulse currents, electrosleep,
- magnetic therapy
- massage and hydromassage couch,
- ultrasound therapy,
- laser therapy.
Underwater traction is well combined with various baths, showers, underwater massage, hydromassage couch and swimming.
Any kind of traction extension must be supplemented by the implementation of physical therapy complexes for training the muscle corset.
